Even before the Paris Motor Show started, carmakers were beginning to introduce their latest models to the public around the globe. One eye-catcher is the Porsche 911 Speedster. It is a special model that hearkens back to 1953 and the days of the purist classic Porsche roadster, the 356. This latest series is a limited edition. Only 356 Porsche 911 Speedsters have been made, all with a 408 horsepower engine under the hood. Mercedes, meanwhile, is staging the global premiere of the second generation of the four-door coupe, the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Volkswagen is also expected to present its new Passat sedan and station wagons in Paris. Looking towards the future, Audi is presenting a hybrid convertible, the E-Tron Spyder. The two-seater is powered by a V6-turbodiesel that is supported by two electric motors that drive the front axle. Smart is also in Paris, and not just with two-seaters but two-wheelers as well. Its new electric motor scooter the Escooter can be charged up using any household electric socket.
